HMM vessel connects to shore power in Gwangyang

South Korean shipping company Hyundai Merchant Marine (HMM) recently demonstrated the use of shore power at the port of Gwangyang.

The 13,000 TEU container ship HMM Emerald utilised shore power while docked at the port, eliminating the need for its onboard generators.

HMM claims that shore power systems are now installed on about half of its container fleet, with usage steadily rising at key ports like Busan, Shanghai and Los Angeles.
