HMM welcomes its first methanol-capable vessel

South Korean shipping firm HMM (formerly Hyundai Merchant Marine) has taken delivery of its first methanol-capable dual-fuel vessel.

The 9,000-TEU vessel, HMM Green, will bunker bio-methanol at the Port of Shanghai before being deployed on HMM’s Far East Asia–India–Mediterranean Sea route, the company said.

This is the first of nine vessels HMM ordered in February 2023.

HMM expects to receive the remaining eight vessels by next year.
