Houston Ship Channel closed

A search and rescue operation led authorities to shut Houston Ship Channel to all vessel traffic at 02.20 local time (07.20 GMT) today, shipping agent Norton Lilly says.

There are currently 12 vessels waiting to enter the channel inbound to ports in the Houston area, and 11 vessels waiting to sail out to the Gulf of Mexico.
