Houston Ship Channel closed to all traffic

The key waterway connecting Houston, Galveston, Texas City and Baytown to the Gulf of Mexico was shut because of fog and reduced visibility earlier this morning.

At 02.19 local time (08.19 GMT) there were 13 vessels waiting inbound, 15 outbound and one shifting vessel pending, according to agent Norton Lilly.

There is a moderate to high fog threat forecast until Friday, which could delay vessel traffic in either or both directions through channel.
