In recent days, rough weather conditions have impacted both inbound and outbound vessel traffic in the channel, resulting in significant vessel congestion.

There are around 20 vessels waiting to enter the channel inbound and 11 outbound now, Norton Lilly says.

Houston Ship Channel is a key waterway for vessels going in and out of ports in the Houston area, including Houston, Galveston, Baytown and Texas City.
