The 42,000 cbm-capacity CO2 carrier will be equipped with an onboard carbon capture system, enabling a “capture-and-transport” model for CO2 emissions. It is also designed to allow future retrofitting for ammonia fuel use.

The vessel is aimed to serve the carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) market, according to BV.

Additionally, BV granted Hudong-Zhonghua approval for a 201,000 cbm LNG carrier with a three-cargo hold layout. A three cargo hold layout features three separate compartments in a ship's hull for storing and transporting cargo.
