Indian government to fund 30% of green shipping project cost
India’s Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways (MoPSW) has announced it will provide almost a third of the funds needed for green shipping projects there.

The incentive is higher than the 20% subsidy provided for new vessels running on conventional oil-based fuels.
The Indian ports of Deendayal on the northwest coast, Jawaharlal Nehru on the west coast, Paradip on the east coast and Chidambaranar in the south will be provided two hybrid-hydrogen-fuelled tugboats each.
Deendayal and Chidambaranar ports plan to develop green hydrogen hubs on-site and have set ambitious targets to launch ammonia bunkering by 2025.
A single window system, to monitor sea and river cruises, could also rolled out, the ministry added.
The MoPSW intends to develop hydrogen port infrastructure including hydrogen storage facilities, bunkering, operations and fuelling facilities.
