Insurance firm warns against customs fines in Argentina

Maritime insurance firm Gard says that some ship operators continue to be fined for errors made when filing customs declarations at Argentinian ports.

Gard warns that Argentine Customs Authorities are known to be stringent and tend to review all documents closely. Any discrepancies in data will likely lead to penalties.

Gard urges ship operators to remind their ship masters to be vigilant when calling at Argentinian ports.

Masters and ship officers need to be very attentive when declaring onboard consumables such as bunker fuels, it says.
