The order expands J. Lauritzen's existing partnership with commodities trading group Cargill. The Danish shipowner had originally announced orders for two dual-fuel methanol bulk carriers in April under this partnership.

All three vessels will be capable of using methanol or conventional marine fuels and be operated by Cargill for at least seven years, J. Lauritzen says.

The ships could achieve zero carbon emissions when powered by green methanol and biodiesel, J. Lauritzen says.
