The certification confirms the vessel’s feasibility from both regulatory and safety standpoints.
ClassNK assessed the design under its alternative fuel guidelines, which outline standards for installation, controls and safety systems to reduce risks to ships, crew, and the environment when using ammonia.
Before granting approval, the classification society also carried out a hazard identification study (HAZID) to systematically identify and evaluate potential risks and ensure measures are in place to prevent or mitigate them.
