The biofuel was supplied to Toyo Construction's deep-sea mixing vessel DCM No. 6 on 19 March, NX Shoji said.
This marks the logistic company’s first biofuel delivery outside of Tokyo Bay.
The company has not disclosed the bio component of the product, or the total volume supplied to the vessel.
Despite regulatory pressures on the shipping industry to reduce emissions, the current demand for biofuel remains modest.
However, demand for biofuels is expected to rise in 2025, driven by regulations such as the Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) and FuelEU Maritime.
