The 86,700-cbm very large gas carrier (VLGC) will be fuelled by liquid petroleum gas (LPG) and low-sulphur fuel oil.
The vessel will be equipped with separate cargo tanks capable of transporting LPG and liquid ammonia simultaneously, according to KHI.
The two vessels are expected to be delivered in the first half of 2025.
In a similar development, another Japanese shipping major NYK Line ordered a dual-fuel LPG/liquid ammonia carrier from KHI earlier this week. NYK Line expects to receive its order between 2024 and 2026.
