Kuok and Singaporean university to develop carbon capture systems for ships

May 27, 2022

Kuok Singapore Limited Maritime Group has teamed up with Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU) on a project to develop systems that capture and store carbon emissions from ships after combustion.

“Carbon capture and storage (CCS) has been identified as a potential abatement technology to reduce GHG emissions in the transitional period to a low-carbon economy. Such collaboration with key industry players like KSL is highly valuable, as we jointly develop a meaningful and innovative solution,” says Professor Jasmine S.L. Lam of Nanyang Technological University Singapore.

The Singapore Maritime Institute (SMI), which awarded the project to Kuok and NTU, says the carbon capture systems could become the first of their kind.
