Kuwait Oil Company declares emergency after onshore oil spill incident

The Kuwait Oil Company has declared a state of emergency after an onshore oil spill incident occurred in the western part of Kuwait yesterday.

The incident had no effect on production operations, and no toxic gases were detected at the incident site, the company’s spokesperson Qusai al-Amer said.

Kuwait, a core OPEC member, produced 2.70 million b/d of crude in February, according to OPEC’s recent monthly oil market report. The country is the fourth largest producer among OPEC members.
