Mabanaft delivers B30-VLSFO blend to Hapag-Lloyd in Hamburg

German bunker supplier Mabanaft supplied 1,000 mt of B30-VLSFO blend to shipping company Hapag-Lloyd’s container ship Delaware Express in the Port of Hamburg.

The bunker operation, completed on 12 December, was a first test delivery under the supply agreement between the two companies. Volumes could increase further next year, Mabanaft said.

The B30-VLSFO blend consists of 30% bio-component and 70% VLSFO. According to its website, Mabanaft supplies biofuels based on hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO) and fatty acid methyl ester (FAME) for shipping.

“We are very pleased that Mabanaft is providing biofuels in the Port of Hamburg. Cooperation between suppliers and buyers, as well as the establishment of real trials, will help further improve the availability of biofuels,” said Jan Christensen, Senior Director of Global Fuel Purchasing at Hapag-Lloyd.
