The methanol was supplied to Maersk Flinders by the bunker tanker Jia Chen 17 in a ship-to-ship (STS) operation on 27 June, according to China Classification Society (CCS).

The physical bunker supplier for the operation was not disclosed.

The operation marked the first STS methanol bunkering of a newbuild vessel at a shipyard in Zhejiang Province, according to CCS.

It also makes Zhoushan the second port in China, after Shanghai, capable of conducting routine STS methanol bunkering, CCS said.
