MAN ES signs massive methanol retrofit deal with container firms
The German engine manufacturer MAN Energy Solutions (MAN ES) will retrofit at least 15 of the container ships operated by Hapag-Lloyd and Seaspan to run on methanol.

The agreement includes options for an additional 45 methanol retrofits. The engine manufacturer will replace the conventional engines in these vessels with its dual-fuelled methanol engines.
MAN ES says its total dual-fuelled methanol engine orderbook has swelled above the 100-mark.
The global methanol fleet is currently made up of 26 vessels with another 35 expected to join the fleet this year, according to data from classification society DNV.
