MISC orders two ethane dual-fuel VLECs

Malaysian logistic firm MISC Berhad (MISC) has ordered two ethane dual-fuel Very Large Ethane Carriers (VLECs) from South Korea.

The 100,000 cbm-capacity vessels can operate on both, ethane and conventional marine fuels. The carriers will be fully capable of carrying LPG and ethylene in addition to ethane.

South Korean shipbuilder HD Hyundai Heavy Industries will construct the vessels, with deliveries scheduled for late 2028.

The vessels will be chartered to Thai petroleum company PTT Public Company (PTT) to support the transport of ethane from US export facilities to Thailand.
