The 5,000-dwt hybrid bulk carrier, Misje Viola, is equipped with a 1,000-kilowatt hour (kWh) battery pack for additional power. It can also connect to shore power, but will mainly run on MGO between ports it operates between.

Misje Rederi projects that the vessel will consume 5.8 mt/day of MGO at sea, and no MGO in port.

The Misje Viola is the third in six hybrid-electric bulk carriers Misje Rederi has on order.

The first vessel, Misje Vita, was delivered in September last year and second vessel, Misje Verde, was delivered in April this year. The keel laying ceremony for the fourth vessel, Misje Flora, was held in November last year. All vessels have been ordered from Sri Lankan shipbuilder Colombo Dockyard.

Misje Rederi has an option for four additional hybrid-electric vessels.
