The fuel blend was produced using a fossil component from Motor Oil’s refinery and a biofuel component made from used cooking oil collected in Greece. The biofuel was processed at the group’s plant named Verd.

While the company did not disclose the exact percentage of biofuel in the blend, it said the product can reduce tank-to-wake CO2 emissions by around 21% compared to fossil-only marine fuels.

The supplied fuel blend complies with the requirements of ISO 8217:2024.

ISO 8217:2024 is the international standard for marine fuels, specifying the quality and performance requirements for fuels, including biofuel blends with fatty acid methyl esters (FAME), to ensure compatibility with marine engines and environmental compliance.
