Cryogenic technology firm INOX India has been selected by Island Power Producers Limited (IPP) to design, engineer, and supply technology for building a Mini LNG receiving and regasification terminal in The Bahamas. This terminal will supply LNG to IPP’s 60 MW (megawatt) combined-cycle power plant, which will generate electricity for shore power supply to cruise ships at the Nassau Cruise Port.
Shore power has been gaining traction across ports and ship operators globally because it helps to reduce emissions while a ship is berthed.
Last month, Turkey's Asyaport announced the launch of a shore power facility for container ships. In the same period, Norway-based cold ironing provider Zinus revealed plans to install two shore power units at Denmark's Port of Skagen.
