The vessels will be built at China Merchants Jinling Shipyard in Yangzhou city. The ships will be delivered to Terntank between 2025 and 2026.
They will also be equipped with electric power supply system and shore power connection to reduce emissions while in port, according to Finnish oil refining company Neste.
“The tankers are tailored to transport a wide variety of liquid cargoes including renewable raw materials, such as waste and residue oils and fats, to Neste’s refineries,” Neste says.
Earlier this month, renewable energy supplier North European Oil Trade chartered similar vessels from Terntank, which are also scheduled for delivery in 2025.
