The dual-fuel engine will run on marine gas oil and biofuels, with the option of being converted to methanol in the future. Delivery of the vessel is scheduled for 2025.

Terntank ordered two hybrid tankers from China Merchants Jinling Shipyard last November. The company has the option of ordering two more.

Renewable energy supplier North European Oil Trade currently has six of Terntank’s vessels in service. “During the past ten years companies have together piloted the first liquefied natural gas (LNG) and liquefied biogas (LBG) powered tankers in operation,” said Terntank.
