Norway to establish first floating hydrogen station
Norwegian hydrogen technology firms Hynion and Hyrex have partnered to create hydrogen stations for refueling leisure boats with zero-emission fuel.

Norwegian authorities intend to reduce emissions from leisure boats by almost 50%, starting with a pilot installation that is expected to be completed over the coming months.
The collaboratiion between Hynion and Hyrex is important because it demonstrates that hydrogen as a fuel for leisure boats is a good and accessible alternative, says Hynion's chief Ulf Hafseld.
The station will consist of an electrolyser that will produce hydrogen, a hydrogen compressor with associated storage tanks, and a dispenser mounted on a floating jetty module, says Hynion.
Additionally, the station will require water and electricity from shore.
In the testing phase refueling will be carried out on a Hyrex prototype boat, which will be powered by a 20 kWh battery pack with a 300 kWh hydrogen range extender that allows for a cruise time of 20-25 hours.
