Norway’s Rem Offshore orders a dual-fuel vessel

Shipping firm Rem Offshore has signed a contract with the Norwegian shipyard Myklebust Verft for the construction of an energy subsea construction vessel (ESCV).

The vessel will be equipped with a methanol dual-fuel engine along with battery packs. It will be able to run methanol and conventional marine fuels and is expected to be delivered by 2026.
The contract also contains an option to build one more vessel for Rem Offshore.
It will also be equipped with a 250-tonne lifting crane, which will be electrically powered.
