Norwegian biomethanol project could eye shipping demand

Norway-based startup Mana Group and energy firm Equinor plan to build a 270,000 mt/year biomethanol plant in Mongstand, Norway.

The facility is expected to use around 550,000 mt/year of locally sourced residual waste to produce biomethanol, Mana Group said.

The project’s feasibility study is expected to be completed next year, but the company has not specified when operations will begin.

“Shipping is for sure one of the offtake segments we have looked at,” Mana Group’s chief executive, Jon Bergan told ENGINE.
