The duo took delivery of the vessel named Gas Amethyst from Sakaide Works, a unit of Japanese shipbuilder Kawasaki Heavy Industries.
Gas Amethyst comes equipped with a dual-fuel engine that can run on LPG and conventional marine fuel. The carrier can also be used to transport ammonia, NYK says.
The vessel is jointly owned by NYK and Astomos. In March this year, the two firms took delivery of their first jointly-owned dual-fuel LPG carrier Gas Garnet.
The vessel will join a fleet of 107 LPG-capable vessels in operation globally, according to the classification society DNV.
