Launched last year, Hydrom aims to accelerate green hydrogen production in the country. It undertakes key roles such as developing master plans for green hydrogen projects, allocation of land areas and facilitating infrastructure development.
"We are looking forward to closing the final forms of agreements soon with our partners. We will also begin with our bid evaluation process on the public auction to deliver our promise to the government," Hydrom acting managing director Dr Firas Al Abduwani told Zawya, a regional news publication.
Hydrom recently concluded a bidding process for two land areas to be allocated for green hydrogen projects near the port of Duqm. The winning bids will be announced by 1 April, according to the Hydrom.
Hydrom is also accepting bids for another 2-4 land blocks in the Dhofar area until October.
Oman intends to produce 1 million mt/year of green hydrogen by 2030. Green hydrogen will be produced through electrolysis of water with electricity sourced from wind or solar energy.
