ONE completes bio-VLSFO trial on Singapore to South Africa voyage

A 1,300 mt biofuel-blended VLSFO stem was delivered by BP to a container ship owned by Japanese Ocean Network Express (ONE) 11 February.

The vessel, M/V NYK Fuji, was said to successfully complete a voyage from Singapore to Durban and Cape Town before returning. This was the vessel's third biofuel bunker trial.

The bunkering and voyage was done in collaboration with one of ONE's parent companies, NYK Line, under the supervision of the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.

The biofuel was a blend of Brown Grease Methyl Ester (BGME) and VLSFO. ONE said the trial did not require any modification to the engine and fuel systems.
