The B24 blend will consist of 24% biofuel derived from used cooking oil and 76% conventional marine fuels, according to Orix.
The trial is set to begin at the end of November on a bulk carrier operating between the Far East and the Mediterranean.
The Japanese firm has not disclosed details about the conventional fuel to be used in the blend, the quantity to be bunkered and the duration of the trial. It has also not mentioned the location where the biofuel will be bunkered.
The bulk carrier is currently under charter by the Danish shipping company Norden.
