Overwhelming majority for FuelEU Maritime

The European Parliament formally adopted the FuelEU Maritime regulation today, which sets greenhouse gas (GHG intensity reduction targets for shipping.

As a reminder, the GHG reduction targets are as follows:

2% 2025
6% 2030
14.5% 2035
31% 2040
62% 2045
80% 2050

“It’s a wrap! The European Parliament formally adopted the deal with a vast majority on setting increasingly more stringent energy intensity targets for fuels used on board of ships. This to incentivize the uptake and scale-up of alternative fuels in the #maritime sector!,” commented Louise De Tremerie, a transport policy advisor to the European Parliament.
