PaxOcean completes methanol dual-fuel engine retrofit for a container ship

Singapore-based marine engineering company PaxOcean has completed a methanol dual-fuel engine retrofit for a container ship operated by compatriot shipping firm X-Press Feeders.

The 1,170-TEU feeder vessel, MV Eco Umande, was retrofitted with MAN Energy Solutions’ dual-fuel engine that can run on methanol and conventional marine fuels, PaxOcean said.
The retrofit was carried out at PaxOcean’s shipyard in Zhoushan.
“The retrofit included a MAN Energy Solutions engine, a complete methanol fuel system, and essential modifications,” PaxOcean said. The vessel was delivered on 23 June.
