The four 7,700-dwt IMO Type 2 chemical tankers, will be built by Jiangmen Hangtong Shipyard in China. The first ship is scheduled for delivery in the second quarter of 2025, with the remaining ships following at three-month intervals. These vessels will be able to supply biofuel blends up to B100 (100% biofuel) and methanol.

An IMO type 2 chemical tanker is designed for transporting moderately hazardous chemicals according to International Maritime Organisation (IMO) standards.

The company has not yet disclosed where these vessels will deployed upon delivery.

“The partnership between HTM and Peninsula allows us to build ships which cater for customer needs thus de-risking construction whilst maintaining full flexibility, John A. Bassadone said. He is the founder of both Peninsula and HTM.

In April, Peninsula launched an IMO type 2 chemical tanker, Aalborg, in Barcelona.
