Port of Gothenburg starts shore power for tankers

Sweden’s Terntank-operated chemical tanker demonstrated the use of shore power at the Swedish port of Gothenburg.

The 15,000-dwt chemical tanker, Tern Island, utilised shore power while docked at the port, eliminating the need for its onboard generators.

The port authority added that three berths in its energy terminal are “fully electrified and operational” to enable more tankers to connect to shore power.
