Port of Oakland calls for zero-emission cargo operations
California's Port of Oakland has approved an ordinance that requires cargo handlers in the port to prepare a plan for zero-emission operations.

“This ordinance calls for our seaport tenants to develop a plan to reach zero emissions from cargo-handling operations. It’s a commitment to Oakland and the region that we take very seriously,” president of the Oakland Board of Port Commissioners Barbara Leslie says.
Port tenants that manage cargo handling equipment need to submit plans for how they will comply with the ordinance by 31 December this year.
The port authority will review these plans every year to ensure a timely implementation.
