Both vessels will be able to run on both methanol and conventional marine fuels.

The dual-fuel tankers, Stena Provident and Stena Progressive, represent the last two ships in a six-vessel methanol dual-fuel fleet commissioned by Proman Stena Bulk - a joint venture between Stena Bulk and Proman.

All six vessels are constructed by the Chinese shipbuilder Guangzhou Shipyard International (GSI).

Methanol has been gaining popularity among shipowners. 143 new construction orders of methanol-capable vessels were placed in 2023, the classification society Lloyd’s Register's analysis of last year’s vessel orders found.
