The ammonia-ready vessels will likely run on conventional fuels from when they are delivered, and they will have to be retrofitted with new engines to be able to consume ammonia.

The four 45,000 cbm-capacity gas carriers will be built by South Korea's Hyundai Mipo Dockyard. They are scheduled for delivery in 2025 and 2026. The ships will also be fitted with scrubbers that will allow them to burn HSFO.

Upon delivery, the vessels are primarily expected to transport ammonia.
