Red Sea: Another Houthi missile hits a bulk carrier
Iran-backed Houthi forces hit another bulk carrier in the Red Sea with a suspected uncrewed aerial system (UAS) yesterday, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) said.

The Yemen-based militant group hit M/V TRANSWORLD NAVIGATOR, a Liberian-flagged, Greek-owned, and operated bulk cargo carrier, with the UAS, CENTCOM reported.
The attack caused minor injuries to the crew and “moderate damage to the ship,” CENTCOM said.
The vessel was recently docked in Malaysia and was en route to Egypt. The latest attack marks the fourth direct attack by the Houthis on M/V TRANSWORLD NAVIGATOR, CENTCOM said.
The Yemeni militia’s spokesperson Yahya Sare’e claimed the attack on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
Separately, the US naval forces rejected claims made by the Yemen-based militants about hitting US aircraft carriers with their missiles. “Recent claims about a successful attack by Houthi forces on the aircraft carrier USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) are categorically false,” it said.
UAS is a type of missile used by the Houthis to attack commercial vessels transiting the Red Sea. These repeated attacks on commercial vessels have heightened geopolitical tensions in the Middle East and raised safety concerns in the global shipping industry, according to analysts.
