Three truckloads of liquified biomethane or bio-LNG, totalling around 60 mt were supplied to two LNG-fuelled ships owned by Brittany Ferries, Salamanca and Santoña. The bunkering took place in the Port of Santander’s LNG bunkering terminal in northern Spain.
This is the “first test of its kind” for both the firms, Repsol said.
The bio-LNG was sourced from a Spanish facility located in As Somozas in the northern Galicia region. It is produced using bio-waste from the agri-food industry, households, and sludge from sewage plants.
