RINA greenlights ammonia bunker vessel concepts

Italian cryogenic tank manufacturer Gas and Heat and Finnish marine engine maker Wärtsilä Marine have received approval in principle from RINA for the design of two ammonia-capable bunker vessels.

The vessels will have capacities of 8,000 cbm and 20,000 cbm. They will be equipped with Wärtsilä Marine’s ammonia dual-fuel engine, capable of operating on both ammonia and conventional fuels.

Additionally, the vessels will feature a shore power connection.

The vessels will fully comply with IMO and EU safety requirements, according to Gas and Heat.
