The vessel, Lake Herman, was bunkered using the ship-to-ship (STS) method in English Bay, Vancouver, Canada. The operation was carried out by Seaspan’s LNG bunker barge, Seaspan Garibaldi.
This marked the first LNG bunkering of an LNG-capable car carrier in Western North America and the first LNG bunkering operation for MOL in the region, according to the company.
Earlier, in February, Seaspan Energy conducted its first STS LNG bunkering for a crude oil tanker at Canada’s Port of Vancouver.
