Sener conceptualises LNG-powered vessels with carbon capture
Spanish engineering firm Sener has designed two LNG-fuelled vessels with onboard carbon capture systems (CCS) for German ship operator Grona Shipping.

According to Sener, CCS will be positioned on top of LNG tanks or between cargo hold compartments on the cargo vessels.
Grona Shipping will operate these vessels in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, Sener added.
Carbon capture technology is becoming increasingly popular in various industries, including shipping, to reduce emissions. The captured carbon from vessel emissions can be permanently stored deep underground or used to produce marine fuels like e-methanol, with zero-emission potential.
