The US Coast Guard has set “port condition Zulu” in several ports located on the Gulf Coast, including the ports of Houston, Galveston, Freeport, Texas City and Corpus Christi. Zulu comes into effect when gale-force wind gusts are forecast to hit the region within 12 hours. All operations have been suspended in these ports since this morning.

The storm is now about 15 miles southeast of Matagorda, moving northwest at 10 mph, NHC said.
