The company claims to be the world’s largest LNG cargo supplier to all markets. It sold a total of 66 million mt of LNG in 2022 up from 64 million mt in 2021, according to its Energy Transition Progress Report for 2022.

Last month, Shell signed an agreement with Hapag-Lloyd to supply LNG bunkers to its upcoming 12 dual-fuel LNG container ships.

Shell is also ramping up investments in biofuels, targeting demand from sectors including shipping. It recently acquired Danish biogas producer Nature Energy, which produces biofuels from organic waste streams.
