The 80,000-cbm LNG carrier is equipped with an LNG-marine gasoil (MGO) dual-fuel engine, according to the China Classification Society.
The vessel's LNG tank, designed by French gas containment specialist GTT, is equipped with a membrane containment system.
GTT describes a membrane containment system as "a cryogenic liner used to contain liquefied gas at low temperatures during shipping, onshore and offshore storage, at atmospheric pressure.”
Shenzhen Gas and China LNG Shipping (CLNG) jointly own the ship. CLNG is a joint venture between COSCO Shipping Energy Transportation and China Merchants Energy Shipping.
China LNG Shipping (International), a subsidiary of CLNG, will operate and manage the vessel, which is constructed by shipbuilder Hudong Zhonghua.
Sea trials for the vessel, dubbed Princess Dapeng, were completed last December.
