Shenzhen’s West Port Area conducts first LNG bunkering

China’s Shenzhen PetroChina International bunkered a containership with 2,995 mt of LNG in Shenzhen Port, China.

PetroChina International’s bunker barge Xin Opto has completed an LNG bunkering operation for the containership CMA CGM Honest at Shenzhen’s West Port Area.

The operation marked the first of its kind there, according to government authorities.

Previously, LNG-capable vessels visiting Shenzhen Port often had to bunker at offshore anchorages, or in other ports. This operation closes that gap, enabling LNG bunkering directly at berths in the western port area and ensuring full LNG bunkering coverage across Shenzhen Port.
