Singapore conventional bunker sales declined 6% in January

Lower sales of HSFO and MGO led to a 6% decrease in the port's total bunker sales in January compared to December.


Changes in bunker sales from December to January:

  • Total sales down 288,000 mt to 4.35 million mt
  • VLSFO sales up 2,000 mt to 2.43 million mt
  • HSFO sales down 220,000 mt to 1.66 million mt
  • MGO sales down 71,000 mt to 260,000 mt

Singapore's MGO sales dropped by 21%, while total HSFO sales fell by 12%. Meanwhile, VLSFO sales remained nearly unchanged from December levels, according to preliminary data from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore.

In January, 3,580 vessels arrived to bunker in Singapore, an increase of 37 from December's 3,543. However, the average stem size declined significantly to 1,214 mt from 1,308 mt in December.

Overall, the port's total bunker sales for the first month of the year were 10% lower compared to the same period last year.

  • 56% VLSFO
  • 38% HSFO
  • 6% MGO
