Singapore conventional bunker sales declined 8% in November

Fewer vessels arriving for bunkers contributed to the drop in overall bunker sales in November.


Changes in bunker sales from October to November:

  • Total sales down 369,000 mt to 4.32 million mt
  • VLSFO sales down 116,000 mt to 2.40 million mt
  • HSFO sales down 238,000 mt to 1.58 million mt
  • MGO sales down 13,000 mt to 338,000 mt


According to preliminary data from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, VLSFO sales in Singapore dropped by 5% in November, while MGO sales declined by 4%. HSFO sales dropped by a sharper 13%.

The number of vessels calling for bunkering decreased significantly by 156, from 3,452 in October to 3,296 in November. Additionally, the average stem size decreased slightly, from 1,358 mt in October to 1,311 mt in November.

Despite these declines, total bunker sales for the first eleven months of the year were 6% higher than during the same period last year.



Fuel grade share of total sales in November (compared to year to date):

  • 56% VLSFO (55% YTD)
  • 37% HSFO (37% YTD)
  • 8% MGO (7% YTD)
