Singapore conventional bunker sales slipped by 3% in August

Lower sales of HSFO and VLSFO led to a 3% decrease in the port's total bunker sales in August compared to July.


Changes in bunker sales from July to August:

  • Total sales down 131,000 mt to 4.45 million mt
  • VLSFO sales down 41,000 mt to 2.44 million mt
  • HSFO sales down 86,000 mt to 1.70 million mt
  • MGO sales down 4,000 mt to 307,000 mt


According to preliminary data from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore, HSFO, VLSFO, and LSMGO sales in Singapore dropped by 5%, 2%, and 1%, respectively, in August.

Lower sales of high-sulfur fuel oil (HSFO) and very low-sulfur fuel oil (VLSFO) led to a 3% decrease in the port's total bunker sales in August compared to July.

A total of 3,536 vessels arrived for bunkering in August, 21 fewer than in July. The average stem size in August was 1,257 mt, down from 1,287 mt in July.

Despite slightly lower sales in August, total bunker sales for the first eight months of the year were still 6% higher compared to the same period last year.



Fuel grade share of total sales in August (compared to year to date):

  • 55% VLSFO (56% YTD)
  • 38% HSFO (37% YTD)
  • 7% MGO (7% YTD)
