Singapore conventional bunker sales up 1% in September
Higher sales of HSFO contributed to push the port’s total bunker sales slightly higher in September.
Monthly Singapore bunker sales since January 2019

Changes in bunker sales from August to September:
- Total sales up 26,000 mt to 4.21 million mt
- VLSFO sales down 57,000 mt to 2.46 million mt
- HSFO sales up 80,000 mt to 1.47 million mt
- MGO sales up 3,000 mt to 285,000 mt
Singapore’s HSFO sales grew by 6%, while LSMGO sales rose by 1%.
VLSFO sales in the port declined by 2% on the month, and to their lowest level since June this year.
In September, 3,478 vessels called to bunker in Singapore, a marginal dip of 5 from August, according to preliminary figures from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore. However, at 1,211 mt, the average stem size was slightly larger than 1,202 mt in August.
Meanwhile, total bunker sales across the first nine months of the year were 3% higher compared to the same period last year. This is primarily because 12% more vessels arrived for bunkers in the first nine months of the year than last year.

Fuel grade share of total sales in September (compared to year to date):
- 58% VLSFO (61% YTD)
